Overview: The Graduate School (GS) is a learning community for adult continuing education and professional development. Founded in 1921 by the Secretary of Agriculture, its mission is to improve the performance of government and to provide opportunities for individual lifelong learning through education and training. With more than 1,000 superior instructors that draw upon seasoned careers in government, business and academia, GS annually enrolls 150,000 students in over 800 courses, encompassing such offerings as personal enrichment and career development coursework, an award-winning Government Auditing program, leadership and management programs, human resources management, information technology, and a variety of foreign languages.
Our services extend far beyond classroom education to include organizational development, facilitation, training center management, coaching and mentoring development, career counseling, and conference management. The GS has the capacity to design, build, manage and deliver tailored courses on site at the request of organizations, from off-the-shelf classes to fully customized programs. Location and flexibility: The GS has regional training centers in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Honolulu, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington, DC. Individuals can sign up for a single class or can register for one of our Certificate Programs
Quality: GS staff includes program and project managers, training specialists and training assistants to ensure that all training services meet quality standards and services are delivered in a timely, cost effective way.
Expertise: Our faculty members and consultants are recognized leaders. Many have advanced degrees - business administration, information systems management, public administration - as well as years of experience in government.
Recognized standards: Many GS courses meet the academic standards set forth by the American Council on Education (ACE) and thus qualify for earning transfer academic credit at colleges and universities. GS also has partnerships with colleges and universities that accept designated courses for continuing education credits. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management accepts GS continuing education credits for civil service qualification purposes.
Convenience: The General Services Administration (GSA) has approved the GS under Federal Supply Schedules 69 and 874 (Management, Organization, and Business Improvement Services, or MOBIS). This contract allows GS services to be offered to federal government agencies at pre-negotiated prices.
